You can see regularly scheduled shows every Monday at 4 p.m. at the Satellite Beach Recreation Center, every Second Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Eau Gallie Civic Center, and at lots of other schools, libraries, rec-centers and special events. Also, if you follow me around I've been known to spontaneously perform science demonstrations whenever the opportunity arises. - Mr. Science

I'd like to take my 3 year old to one your space shows. Are you always in Melbourne or do you perform in Cocoa Beach anywhere? Lisa Stotz <
The closest regularly scheduled shows to Cooa Beach are in Cocoa, Satellite Beach and Merritt Island. the City of Satellite Beach hosts a Mr. Science show every Monday at 4:00 p.m. at the Recreation Center! During the Summer the Cocoa Library and the Merritt Island Library often schedule one or two shows as well. Many schools and Daycares in the Cocoa Beach area also schedule an occasional performance. I checked the city's official website and found no classes in their recreation page, maybe they should call me! - Mr. Science

I really want to look for a science project, could you help me?
meanie ortiz 18:13:10 (EST)
Sure, check the back shelf of my refrigerator! Yikes! If that's too scary then try and turn something you already like to do into a project. First, choose something you like doing. Everyone is an expert at something. To make a science project, try predicting what will happen if you do the thing you like doing differently. Look for a pattern that tells you what will happen then see if you can change the pattern. If every time you make a change the same thing happens you may have discovered a new pattern! If your change makes the world a better place - that's even better. Writing down instructions so someone else can try and do what you did is called a science project! Simple isn't it? - Mr. Science

Hello from the moderator of the Mad Scientist group on Yahoogroups! Thank you for listing my group in your Yahoo Profile "Cool examines"! I worked for Mad Science in Tacoma for a few months but the pay was way too low for time spent and I was very unhappy with the high number of inaccuracies and lack of concern about them. I built some of my own props including a speaker. I used a thin clear plastic cup, glued a plastic tube on the bottom with quite a few turns of enameled wire around it. Then with a radio connected to the wires, I'd hold it by the top edge and move a bar magnet into the center of the plastic tube. Tada! Music! I love science and electronics. I built two phones when I was a kid. I had two of those 2K metal plate headphones. I took two of the speakers apart, took the wiring out and filled them with crushed carbon from the center rod of some carbon-zinc batteries. I soldered one wire to the metal plate and one to the metal that had held the speaker wire. Then with 6 volt lantern batteries, I connected one microphone and one speaker and one 6V lantern battery in series, then the same with the other. I even made them so you could hang them up using shoe boxes to hold everything and cut up tin cans with shock resistant material bands as springs, so when you picked up the earphone the shock resistant material bands pulled the tin can hooks up to make contact with another piece of tin can. Not very loud, but it worked! http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Mad_Scientist PS Your guest book is changing words in my message... Steve Greenfield <

A colleague mentioned Mr. Science to me. Is this a program? I am looking for enrichment activities for an after school program.
James Thornton <jthornton@ cucps.k12.va.us> Hi James, thanks for writing. The "Mr. Science Show" is based in Brevard County, Florida (home of the Space Shuttle). The shows have been seen on Time Warner Cable and also on home videos. Live shows are seen weekly throughout central Florida at schools, rec-centers and special events. The "Mr. Science after school programs" were developed to provide a series of interactive presentations throughout the school year (A different topic is presented each week). A typical Mr. Science presentation might include live animals, dynamic stunts, audience participation, unusual science equipment, strange inventions and a lot of cleaning up. In American culture the name "Mr. Science" has come to define any nerdy know-it-all and many communities have their own "Mr. Science". This "Mr. Science Show" has been entertaining and educating children and families in the southeast for over a decade! I don't know if your colleague was refering to me or not but here are the closest science performers I found to your county.... ------------------------------------------------------ In Virginia, I found a science "road show" that very close to you. I don't know the gentleman but here are the links I found. I believe you are within the range he is willing to travel! http://phun.physics.virginia.edu/ http://faculty.virginia.edu/sthornton/home.html ------------------------------------------------------ Another potential source in your state might be the "Wood Magic Show" and their Traveling Classroom... http://woodmagic.forprod.vt.edu/ ------------------------------------------------------ A "Traveling Science Show" that covers virginia was also found at the Franklin Institute... http://www.fi.edu/tfi/programs/travshow.html ----------------------------------------------------- Other similar items can be found by searching for "Virginia science show" in your favorite search engine. Let me know if this is helpful to you. - Mr. Science

Each year Tim brings his Mr. Science Show to the Melbourne Arts Festival, Kids World. We offer crafts, face painting, magic shows, clowns, etc., but the most important ingredient of Kids World is the Mr. Science Show. Tim captures the attention of 2 year olds through grandparents with his program. In addition to his fun and interesting program he also acts as MC for the weekend. He is one of the most versatile entertainers. If you are considering offering a fun, educational and thoroughly entertaining program for children, the Mr. Science Show is it.

Dear Mr. Science: Thank you for all the great shows you brought to our daughter's school last year. Now that she is home more for the summer, we are getting the time to do more science together at home, and my husband and I are very impressed with all she has learned from you! She still talks about you a lot, and she thinks you're great! We all do! As a matter of fact, we think you're Sciensational!:) Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm with our family! Love, Ada's Family! P.S. Have you heard about the new West Melbourne Elementary School of Science opening in August, 2000? http://millenniumschools.brevard.k12.fl.us/WestMelbourne.htm Diana Taylor <DianaTaylor@ Bigfoot.com> 06:13:29 (PDT)

I just wanted to confirm for this Friday the 19th. The children come in from recess at 12:30, so if you could be ready to 'go' at about 12:45, that would be great. I was going to let you know what show - but after reviewing your website, I still don't know. Can I leave it up to you to select what ever you feel a class of second graders will enjoy? I will meet you at the school around 12:30-ish. Please call me or email me if you have any questions. Thanks

Hi Mr. Science! This site is getting better every time I visit it. I saw your dinosaur going over the Melbourne Causeway the other day. It was following too close to a brown van. Does your dinosaur need glasses or was it in a hurry? Thanks for a neat site to visit!! Gotta go now.

What you do for children is incredible. You have a unique gift. Keep it up!! My kids laugh and learn. That is truly the way to teach effectively. As discussed briefly with you the other day at the civic center, when we get askdrheatlh.com up and running, I hope that you will be a part of our team that will be dedicated to scientific learning and teaching. We would love to have you. Until then---don't blow yourself up with anything! ;) alan frisher alan frisher, ph.d. <dochealth@ cfl.rr.com> 17:11:10 (PST)
